Jacqueline Probert is a third generation American portrait artist; a family tradition started in New England in the early 1900’s by her grandmother Beatrice Bousquet. As a young woman Jacqueline supported her peripatetic life with commissioned portraiture throughout Europe and the Far East including stops in Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, Istanbul and Morocco. In the early 1980’s, Jacqueline turned her attention to the animal kingdom. Having grown up surrounded by animals and feeling a deep connection to their world, she works to “capture the essence of the beings we share our lives with—who contribute their love and presence to our homes unconditionally.” From rottweilers to poodles, rabbits and horses, to her own siamese cats, Blanche and Baby Jane, she strives to capture the unique characteristics of every animal.
Ms. Probert has exhibited internationally while maintaining studios in San Francisco, CA and Branford Point, CT. In 2007 she completed a collection of sketches for a book on famous pets including Bill Clinton’s dog Bubba, George Clooney’s recently deceased potbelly pig Max, and Shirley MacLaine’s miniature rat terrier, Terry. Jacqueline has collaborated with many local celebrities including interior designer Jay Jeffers, author’s Diane Dorrans Saeks and Amy Tan; having completed two oil portraits of Ms. Tan’s yorkies Bubba and Lilliput.
Jacqueline Probert is also a former board member at Pets Unlimited and regular donor to the Bark and Whine Ball in San Francisco, CA and the Tony La Russa Animal Rescue Foundation in Walnut Creek, CA.
