As someone who grew up alongside animals, and drawing them from an early age, I have sought to depict their distinct, but ephemeral beingness – my sense of their belonging to our tribe, but not looking or acting like us. I seek to record their knowingness, their absence of malice and judgment, their untiring compassion and acceptance of our presence in their world. Recording the depth of our inter-species relationship, in formal terms, is my homage to both the animals and artists who have, since the Stone Age, taken part in this mystery.
Commissioned portraits are uniquely personal works of art. They are also an important historical record for a family, friend or organization. Animal portraiture is a time-honored tradition; both singular and long lasting. For information on commissioning an animal portrait please click on the Contact link above.
